Match Summary – Breadsall CC vs VCC (Bowling Performance)

VCC won the toss and chose to bowl first under overcast skies on a green pitch.

Ananth and Sarath begin our bowling attack. Breadsall CC began with attacking intent, scoring 20 runs in the first two overs. But the breakthrough came in the 3rd over when Ananth struck twice first with a well-judged catch by Vishnu at mid-off, and then trapping the next batter LBW. From the other end, Sarath bowled with good pace and tight lines. He picked up two wickets in the 6th and 8th over of the match one through a sharp catch by Arun Raj at cover point, and the other bowled through the gate. At the end of 8 overs, Breadsall were struggling at 48 for 4.

Ananth and Sarath continued to build pressure with disciplined bowling. both in the middle of a great spell and wanted to continue for a long spell of full quota. Good to see fast bowlers bowling full 9 overs in a spell not that happen every day with us. Commendable effort, Both finished with 3 wickets each and could have had more, Sarath nearly got his fourth when Jismon made a full-stretch diving effort, almost pulling off a brilliant catch. The energy and intent in the field was great.

Vishnu and Lee was next into the attack. Vishnu kept things tight and struck in his third over with a sharp catch taken by Phani at gully who didn’t had to move an inch. He followed it up with another wicket a clean catch by Eldo at mid-off, and later bowled with a delivery that moved slightly. Vishnu finished with 3 wickets as well. Lee supported well from the other end with a couple of tight overs and got the final wicket with a short ball that popped up to Sanath at cover point for a simple catch.

The fielding throughout the innings was great, good catches. Breadsall CC were bowled out for just 118 runs inside 30 overs. All four fast bowlers doing the job.

Batting Summary – Breadsall CC vs VCC

Chasing a modest target of 119, VCC began cautiously with Eldo and Anuj opening the innings. They played carefully for the first couple of overs before Eldo was bowled in the 3rd over trying a big shot. Roshit joined Anuj, and the pair built a small but steady partnership, punishing loose deliveries and sending 9 balls to the boundary. However, a mix-up while running between the wickets led to Anuj being run out for 17, need to improve communication while running between the wickets. Jismon came in next and looked steady but was undone by a ball that stayed low. Arun Raj joined Roshit and kept the scoreboard ticking, but Roshit was dismissed LBW in the 15th over, leaving VCC at 57/4.

Sanath came in and played a good supporting knock, rotating strike and hitting some clean boundaries, including a straight hit over the bowler. His promising innings ended when he was caught trying another attacking shot, with the score at 83/5. Phani came in next and supported Arun, Arun anchored one end with patience. Phani tried to accelerate but got bowled going for a big shot 109/6 . Vishnu then joined Arun, and the pair calmly guided the team home, with Arun finishing the match in style with a six over square leg, remaining unbeaten. It was a well-rounded team effort, and VCC chased down the target with contributions from the batting order, securing a much-needed win and 22 points.

Player of the Match

Hard to pick one standout in a true team performance. Bowlers set the tone early, and the batters supported well to finish the job. A solid all-round effort.
